Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 and is Colorado’ second largest city. It boasts a “small town” atmosphere while also being a cultured city. In the 1940s the U.S. Army opened Ft Carson which is now the strongest military presence in the region. This city is home to Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, the U.S. Space Command, Schriever Air Force Base, and the United States Air Force Academy.
